England v India Second ODI: 3 Bets to Take

After losing the first ODI convincingly, Jos Buttler’s England will be looking to bounce back when they take on India in the second ODI of the series tomorrow. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma’s men will be full of confidence and looking to win the series which will be their third series win in 12 matches on English soil.

I’ve put together three bets to take for the second ODI at the iconic Lord’s.

India

India were the favourites going into the 1st ODI and it’s no surprise to see that remain the same for this one. They completely dominated the first match from start to finish and will be brimming with confidence going into this one.

England have lost more matches than they have won in ODI cricket at Lord’s. The home side have a 25/27 W/L record, while India have won three and lost four at the home of cricket. India’s bowling attack looks much stronger than England’s with the home side missing a number of key players.

Backing India to win would be a smart bet on a ground that’s been low-scoring and has favoured the seamers in recent times.

Suggested Bet: India to win 1.74

Jasprit Bumrah

On current form, not many can argue that Bumrah is the best all-format bowler in the world. He was superb in the previous game as he achieved his career-best figures of 6/19. The new ball has done a lot of damage at Lord’s in recent ODIs and you’d think Bumrah will take advantage of the conditions.

Even though he’s only been India’s top bowler in two of his last 13 attempts, it’s difficult to bet against him right now. Mohammed Shami is also a good bet at 4.35.

Suggested Bet: J Bumrah to be India’s top bowler 3.00

Value Bet: J Bumrah to be MOTM 8.00

Highest Opening Partnership

Indian opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan completed 5000 ODI runs as an opening pair in the first ODI. They became just the fourth duo in the world to achieve the milestone with 18 century stands at an average of 46.43.

I would back them over the opening pair of Bairstow and Roy, especially with Roy yet to get going in both the T20I series and the first ODI. The Indian pair also do not have to contend with the pair of Bumrah and Shami running in with the new ball.

Suggested Bet: India to have the highest opening partnership 1.80
