Horse Racing Tips: Durbanville and Greyville

There’s a double-header to look forward to this weekend with horse racing taking place at Durbanville and Greyville.

Durbanville (Saturday)

Race 1 – Hunting Trip

Hunting Trip and Richard Fourie look to be the best bet of the day and it is in the first race on an exciting Durbanville card. The daughter of Trippi has finished second and third in her two starts to date, and the pair look unbeatable in the afternoon’s first race for the Justin Snaith stable.

Race 3 – Aussenkehr

Richard Fourie and Justin Snaith team up once again for another ride in Race 3. Aussenkehr is in impeccable form to date and does look to be the right one here. It does look like you can banker him in the Pick 6 considering the first-timer rule.

Race 4 – Global Forests

Glen Kotzen and Calvin Habib saddle Global Forests who looks to have the best form in this weak Maiden field. The pair have good form over this type of trip and from a good draw of 5, they should be hard to beat in the run down to the line.

Race 8 – Charles Dickens

Charles Dickens and Aldo Domeyer were impressive in their two runs to date for the Candice Bass-Robinson yard. They go up against a tricky graduation plate here but in the manner that he won both of his starts to date, he should be able to give account of himself here and keep his unbeaten record intact.

Greyville (Sunday)

Race 1 – Smith And Wesson

Smith And Wesson looks like he could come out of the Maidens and get the Paul Matchett yard off to a winning start on Sunday. He gets the services of Richard Fourie and in the current form that he is in, he should be the one to beat in the run down up the straight.

Race 3 – Atlantic City

Atlantic City has been in good form to date and his trainer, Clinton Binda, has had success rading in KZN. He looks to have the form to finally be able to break the maiden in this field and gets the services of Calvin Habib, who knows him very well.

Race 5 – Captain Fontane

Captain Fontane was impressive in his comeback run when finishing second over the same trip last time. That was his first run after a rest and if able to bring his A-game that the KZN public is used to seeing. He should be able to win this in scintillating fashion which Serino Moodley in the irons.

Race 8 – Shanta’s Pride

You would have to wait until the last race of the weekend to get hold of the best bet on the day. That comes in the form of Shanta’s Pride for the Peter Muscutt stable. He finished runner-up on debut and with natural improvement and the extra furlong on offer, she should take a power of beating in the closing stages.
